Significance
Before the war, the tensions between the Crown and the colonists had been tense yet manageable through diplomacy. However, as the Intolerable Acts and other injustices were inflicted on the Americans, war became inevitable. The Battle of Lexington and Concord is considered the first in the American Revolution. It has led to other battles and conflict and heightened the negative relationship with Britain and the first shot in it is known as the “shot heard ‘round the world.” The Battle of Lexington and Concord marked the armed and fighting nature of the colonists and persuaded other Americans to join the growing war.
